lovin lake powell
The highlight of our summer was our awesome Lake Powell trip. THANKS KAREN!
Scott's sister got us a stay in her friends houseboat...which was very very amazing...and we had a blast!
Here's Mason enjoying the 360 degree window views! :) It was gorgeous the whole time we were there.
The house boat parked at warm beach for our stay!
It was such a big boat it actually doesn't fit in the slips, it just gets tied onto the ends. It was SO awesome. Karen actually just remodeled it and it was gorgeous. She's amazing. Granite counter tops and floors. A grill/bar area upstairs with all stone detailed floors and (whoo-hooo) a soda fountain! :)...oh wait, I'm pregnant so the free flowing Dr Pepper wasn't even enjoyed by me. :( But it was great because there were 5 bedrooms and every room had it's own bathroom! How lucky is that! It was VERY convenient since we had so much family and a ton of kids!Mason watching the water on our way away from the slip.
I should have brightened these before posting them but I knew if I did they would never get posted.....so here is Mason watching the "captain" pilot the boat to the beach.
Mason eating a treat! I know I should havetricked everyone and photoshopped my face but here it is...makeupless and ready for the lake!
Building sandcastles...
...with Daddy.
Okay, this was the BEST part of the trip. Scott and his bro Mark tipped Scott's sailboat over in some pretty bad wind. Usually the boat will stop on it's side but.....
NOT this time! That's right, the boat is COMPLETELY upside down! they got it up but just to watch the wind flip it again. (Hobies are supposed to tip over just so everyone knows. They aren't that big of geeks :) )
And here is the powerless houseboat that nearly sucked Mark under while trying to right the sailboat. It nearly wiped them out until Scott finally got the idiots attention and they did their best to steer away. It was pretty scary to watch.
Mason had so much fun doing everything that there was to do there. He's kayaking with his Dad.
And of course the waverunners were his fave! He loved them! That's the only thing he wanted to do...besides jump on the water tramp. There were a couple little 4 seater seadoos there and they were pretty fun. Mason didn't like the boats as much as the waverunners though.
These are some of Karen's friends who were actually filming a wakebaord movie there. I guess they just needed a place to land for a sec? This houseboat has a big helipad on top so it was pretty cool for the kids too see.
So when we were out early one morning these guys were up filming and did a couple rounds around us. Scott's boss was there with a really nice Tige so I think they thought we were going to be way good but I don't think they got much! I'm not sure what all this "we" stuff is because I didn't even get to wakeboard! Prego!(below)Scott's brother Mark.

And Scott's boss Jim. He was so cool. And he has the sweetest family! We are so grateful Scott gets to work with him!

Mason and I enjoying the view on our last morning there. It was early...that's why I'm so scarey! The guys were all out by about 6 (or earlier) to get good water. I was too jealous by the 3rd day to even get in the boat. Pouter, I know.

quick summer update
We've been pretty busy with lots of summer activities! We've been camping and sailing and on the road to So Utah A TON! I haven't even uploaded all of our pictures yet! But here are a few.... First, here is a picture of Mason's face when we told him that....
He's going to be aBIG BROTHER!
We are so excited for February 22, 2010 to get here! We won't know what we are having until the end of September but I can hardly wait. This pregnancy has been SO SO easy compared to Mason. At first I went through a phase where I was very scared and felt almost like I wasn't going to be able to be as good of a mom to Mason. We are BEST buddies and I love him so much that I was afraid not the be able to spend all of my time with him. But seeing how excited Mason gets when he hears the heartbeat and sees the ultrasound pictures, I know it's going to be so great. Mason is always talking about the baby or "Peanut Bryner" in mommy's tummy. (Mason named the baby that after I was trying to explain how big the baby was. haha). He's going to be such a great big brother!
He'll teach him how to do so many things! He already talks about teaching baby tractors!

How to take care of the yard.

How to dress for the summer heat. Seriously, Maddi, he wears these stinkin boots at least 3 out of the 7 days a week. And he's gotten VERY good at "puddin on" all by himself.

How to properly wash a car.

'
Have a love for the fine arts.

How to use Daddy's tools to build cool things like race tracks!
And so much more, I'm sure. It's going to be so much fun....and hard work....with virtually no sleep. But we're going to be a family. :)
As for the rest of the summer....
We took Mason to the airshow at HAB. It was really cool. Mason liked the planes more than the jets, probably because he got so used to them. We live just 2 blocks from the base in Layton so he got to see them land and take off and fly very low overhead. But the THUNDERBIRDS were pretty awesome!
We've been camping and sailing a few times. Mason loves to go with his cousins and ride on Daddy's sailboat.

I just love this picture. Mason has learned so much this summer. He talks like crazy and uses cute little boy mini sentences. His vocabulary is shocking....especially if people don't watch what they say! No swear words yet though!
Watching fireworks with "Gamma Bawrb".
We started birthday doughnut tradition. I'm not much of a doughnut fan but I figured once a year it would be something to break routine and make the day special!Mason's birthday was so fun. We had cake and ice cream with his cousins. His cake had a motorcycle on top so afterward we took him to the fair to watch the motorcross. He LOVED it and ever since he's been jumping with his fourwheeler and trike.
We had a big party for him in St George just a few days after at the splash park. Mason still talked about it. He got so many awesome toys and TRACTORS galore. He got tons of clothes too (thank you thank you thank you)! I haven't even had a chance to upload all of the pics because we've been so busy. Soon.
We took Mason to the Washington County fair with his new friend Jack, who he is always talking about. He keeps asking to ride in Jacks yellow truck. Haha. Anyway, I'll post pics soon because it was the CUTEST thing ever! Mason loved the kiddie rides. I was almost to grossed out to put him on but he was begging. I'm so glad because he was all smiled and giggles the whole time.
I'll post our AWESOME Lake Poweell trip soon!

what Mace is up to

Mason is growing up WAY too fast for me to handle. He talks and runs and plays like a little boy. It's too cute but at the same time SO sad! Here are a few things that makes us laugh.
Mason has always said "HI" to everyone he sees but now if they don't say hi back he just keeps saying it over and over, getting louder each time until they notice him. Then when they say hi back he acts all shy and lays his cheek on his shoulder.
Whenever I tell Scott to look at Mason and Mason hears me, He turns and gives Scott a big cheesy.
He is ALWAYS outside! He comes and goes out the back door getting a new toy every time. He walks past me and says, "tractor outside" or "bike backyard" or just whatever he is planning on doing. If I tell him it's time to come inside he very simply, but firmly states, "no." What a pain. If I tell him he can't go outside he begs "peas!" over and over until he realizes he isn't getting his way then it turns to "OUTSIDE!!!".
When he wants to be held he says, "daddy (or mommy) hold you" or "hoe-me".
When we are going to the pool or to his best buddy Carter's house and we get onto the street to whichever he starts saying excitedly "mimin poo!" or "dar-dar's house!". He seems to always know where we are, even from his carseat.
His new favorite word is no. He says no to nearly everything I ask him to do. The cute part is when he is trying to say a word and gets it word he says "nooooo" and then says it right. When he reads his books he points things out and says them wrong on purpose and then says "noooo" and says the right thing.
Mason LOVES to swim. We try to go everyday. We went through a few different life jackets before finding out that water wings work the best for him. He won't let us help him though. He's kind of scary because we get to the pool and he just jumps in and takes off! We are always right there of course but it's just crazy how big and brave he's getting! He loves the water slides and says "weeee" the whole way down.
He loves swimming so much he tries to in the tub. We've even found him doing it just on the floor! He lays on his tummy and kicks and paddles and says "mim mim mim!" which is his version of swim swim swim.
Whenever Mason sees me doing something he wants to do he comes over and states, "my turn". And when he wants me to play he hands me (or scott) a toy and says "mommy's (or daddy's) turn". It's so funny. He's actually become pretty good at sharing.
He's great at saying please and thank you and even "rawrry" (sorry) when he hurts someone. He's taken my tone once before and said "Rawwrrrry" when he wanted me to say sorry to him. What a nerd.
He says "Pee-woo" when we change a poopy bum.
He loves his friends and cousins and is always asking to paly with them. He also brings me the phone and asks to call gra-ma or dampa.
I could go on forever but it's not as interesting when it's not your own kid. These funny moments just make me forget the hard moments. He's just so grown up and it's hard to keep it all inside when you feel so much joy from your child! I love being a mom more than anything in the world! It's so much fun! I don't know what I ever did without my little Mason. All you moms know what I mean. It's the greatest joy!
I will post more updated pics soon! After softball! Last game! :(
toys
The Easter Bunny brought Mason this trike which he calls a bike. He had to have a "bike" because Daddy has a bike that Mason always wanted to ride. We've only been able to get him to peddle like 3 different times but we'll keep working on it!
It was a toss up for the bunny cause ever since we started mowing the lawn, Mason became OBSESSED with the lawn mower. It was the VERY first thing he'd say when he's wake up and all day he wanted to see the mower. We were going to get him one for Easter but figured the novelty would wear quickly. So this was our big choice.
After getting the "bike" Mason was very happy and played with it for days but he was still so concerned about the lawn mower. So we caved and got him this....

He LOVES the darn thing! He's had it for...I think 2 months now it's still one of his faves. The first week he had it he wouldn't leave it even to eat. I seriously think he lost like 2 lbs because I couldn't get him to come in and eat! We were so wrong about it wearing off. When I mow, he mows too. He ALWAYS wants to "mow mow grass!" All day, everyday. It's nice to have a fenced yard now because Mason nearly lives outside. So one day I was busy and asked Scott to change Mason's bum for me. Mason was, like always, mowing the lawn. Scott doesn't like to fight with Mason so after about 15 minutes I went to see if it was done and this is what I found...

Nice right? Good thing we have a fairly private backyard. Oh my word. It was so funny though. Mason was so happy in nothing but his t-shirt and sneakers. He also did a little gardening for me.
We go to visit my Dad @ my Grandpa's every once in a while. Mason loves dressing up in his wranglers, hat, and boots to be like "Dampa". He loves this little horse that's there and he'll ride it forEVER.

But...at the end of the day, TRACTORS are STILL Mason's #1 favorite things!

easter egg hunt
This was the Centerville Easter egg hunt. It was pretty fun. Mason hadn't ever been to one before and he took off running when they blew the whistle. I wanted all of the eggs at first but when he picked his first one up he was mesmerized by it. I had to talk him into picking up more. This town is so generous and awesome! All of the other kids and parents would just stick to their own areas. No one was fighting over eggs! I thought it was cool.
I didn't help him, I swear.

we'll start with....
Easter. Just because my camera battery is charging and so I can't upload recent pics right now. These pics are obviously pretty old. We had just moved (I'll post pics of our house later) and Mason was actually pretty sick. Scott and I were supposed to go to a big work dinner for the Davis County school district but didn't dare leave Mason with a babysitter. Scott's Mom came to our rescue just in time! It was like magic, as soon as she walked in the door Mason was instantly better and just wanted to play with Grandma!

Well, I guess we're going swimming now so I'll post more after Mason is asleep!
